Garden And Grounds
The principal area of garden is to the front of the house. The drive leads from the road past the former Coach House (now converted to form a separate house). The drive leads past the garages to an elegant gravel turning circle around a central grass island with rose bed to the front of the house. Beside the drive are a shrub border and the Boscobel Oak, believed to be grown from an acorn from the original and planted in 1666. Steps lead down through a clipped yew hedge to the main lawn beyond. This is dominated by splendid mature Oak, Wellingtonia and Sycamores on its boundary, and leads down to clipped Privet and Laurel hedges on two sides. A mature shrub border forms the third side, along with circular rose beds, back planted with a young Hornbeam hedge. Beyond this lies a gravel path leading along a mellow brick wall under a rose pergola to the swimming pool area beyond. This includes the pool and changing room, pump room and day room with fitted kitchen area with mature shrubs adding to its privacy. Beyond the swimming pool is an area of vegetable garden and orchard.
To the rear of the house is a paved terrace leading up to a low brick wall with a pedestrian gate to the adjoining churchyard. This elevation of the house is clad with Cotoneaster and climbing Hydrangea. Steps lead down to a lower level with a gate to a storage area. Wrought iron gates on either side of the house lead to the front and main gardens.
